Professional training and public education

The Foundation considers education its core activity. The most dramatic problems faced by Russia's young civil society stem from an obsolete educational system that has been preserved almost unchanged from the country's totalitarian past. Post-Soviet education is in great need of a radical modernization and re-evaluation of its underlying intellectual and moral values, of cultivating a new generation of teachers and other educational professionals, and gradually replacing the conservative old guard.

In essence, book culture is an indicator of the level of a state’s technological development, and shows the intellectual potential of its people,as well as the creative potential withinparticular territoriese.

In 2007 the Foundation established the Krasnoyarsk annual book fair, regarding it as a central educational project in the Krasnoyarsk District. Over time, the fair has been transformed into the largest event in the Russian's book community calendar, and has given life to a whole area of the Foundations work.

This programme block was a continuation of the eponymous research project which from 2004 to 2008 has operated exclusively in Norilsk. A study in the history of opening up the North, and a search for interdisciplinary approaches to the teaching of history, have revealed a genuine interest in science among broad strata of society. This also sparked an expansion of both the scientific boundaries and also the geography of the project.

The Foundation works as a creative laboratory for the creation of new cultural techniques, and as a school to educate the new generation of creative and innovative people – the creative class.
Targeted support for representatives of the scientific and cultural community (primarily for young people) is one of the priorities of the Foundation’s work.
